What are the best fruit flavored chew toys made from for rabbits and other small pets?

There are many different types of materials for safe chew toys that include different types of wood, grapevine, willow, palm leaf and loofah. But not all chew toys are the same!

Why do you use balsa wood for chew toys?

When we originally started our business back in 2007 we tried flavoring other types of safe wood but the coloring was never correct and our own rabbits completely ignored them. So we chose to look for an alternative option. We talked to many woodworkers that helped us decide on using balsa. About 95% of all balsa wood comes from Ecuador. The supplier we use only heat treats the balsa, unlike some that use formaldehyde. Balsa wood has a high moisture content so it must be dried out. Thankfully we use a supplier we trust and have used/known since 2007.

How do you know if a toy you buy is really flavored with real fruit or fruit juice?

Just look at the colors - is the coloring correct for the blue to be blueberry or the deep pink to be raspberry? If the coloring doesn't match what the real fruit would look like if you squished it, then it is probably some type of coloring.

Are colored toys safe?

In most cases people are using pet safe dyes to color their toys so yes, they are considered safe. But the coloring isn't going to give your small pet the smell and flavor that will entice them to chew if they are picky.

Why choose toys from Fun4Bunnies & Friends?

We have been around awhile and have learned so much flavoring different types of material for safe chew toys. We have many small pet "taste testers" and owners that help give feedback on toy ideas, flavor ideas, etc. When we originally came up with the idea to make flavored chew toys our friends at Columbus House Rabbit Society helped us! Our rescue friends back then were instrumental in us becoming a business
